Altafonte is one of Spain’s foremost independent music companies.
The firm, a long-term friend of [PIAS], offers a range of services in the region ranging from Rights Management to Physical and Digital Distribution and online video management.
It rightly describes itself as a ‘music network’, and has become part of the very fabric of the Iberian music business – and beyond.
If you want to make a splash in Spain, these are the guys to talk to.
The Independent Echo caught up with some of the key members of Altafonte’s team to ask all about working at the company…
Inma Grass, Communication Director & Brand Manager
* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Altafonte?
I´m also founder of Altafonte, and I remember the first steps as very thrilling, finding the right people to create the first team, the first contracts, start developing our own technology…
I remember it as something particularly cool when AMARAL, the biggest rock act in Spain left the major and came to work with us.
Another real cool thing that is about to happen in our brand new remodeled office: the beautiful, professional kitchen and the canteen. We´ll have a vegetarian chef from Monday to Friday to prepare us an organic menu (including delicious desserts…).
The artists, labels, producers, managers and guests visiting the office, could also benefit from this if they like.
* What does Altafonte mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
It may sound grandiose or exaggerated bur our real aim is to change the world.
We want to help create a new ecosystem where honesty, transparency, humility and kindness shake hands with the highest quality standards in all aspects of our activity.
Alfafonte means a lot to me because I´m sure that we are making history and I´m part of the adventure. That´s why I feel so proud to work there.
* What do you hope to achieve at Altafonte in the future?
I hope to be always a good example and an inspiration source for the team, continue learning, improving myself, traveling, opening new markets and providing creativity and good humor around me ^ _ ^
Mario Pato, Content Director
* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Altafonte?
The coolest thing ever is being part of a company that is a game-changer in the music industry.
While some companies still operate like there hasn’t been a disruption in the business model with old contracts and old problems, it’s nice to see how happy labels and artists are with our service and how we can contribute to their success.
* What does Altafonte mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
I have worked in Altafonte since it was founded. I am very proud of how transparency with our partners and hard work has turned the company in one of the most well respected distributors in Spain and Latam.
* What do you hope to achieve at Altafonte in the future?
Altafonte Fest. I will personally chose the line up :D
Montse de las Heras, Operation Director
* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Altafonte?
– Sounds very stereotypical, but our first #1 in the Spanish charts with AMARAL was definitely a high point. Besides chart entries, great signings and unspeakable things that happen at Christmas parties, the coolest thing of all is that after all these years, I am appreciated for the nutjob I am and I can still make a living out of something I absolutely love.
* What does Altafonte mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
It’s a constant challenge and learning experience. We are learning and evolving as fast as the business is and these changing times are extremely exciting.
It’s fast-paced, crazy and stressful at times – and it’s actually fun!
I’m proud to work with a team at the top of their game where the “know it all” attitude is out the window and reaching the next level of excellence is the common goal.
* What do you hope to achieve at Altafonte in the future?
To quote my friend Holger from Nuclear Blast: WORLD DOMINATION.
Octavio Vinck, Financial director
* What’s the coolest thing that’s ever happened to you at Altafonte?
The coolest thing was getting the job itself. Having studied finance as well as being a musician, it was a dream for me to be able to bring together both worlds through working for an independent company such as Altafonte.
* What does Altafonte mean to you and why are you proud to work there?
I love the people who work here, the atmosphere is great, everyone is involved and working hard trying to do the best for the company and the bands we work with. This is why I am so proud to work here.
* What do you hope to achieve at Altafonte in the future?
The sky is the limit.
